Become a Confident Story Teller
with Melissa Brownlow
March 28th, 2017 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Approved for 2 hours of on-going training by the Early Learning and Child Care Board (ELCCB)
Workshop Description
Everyday stories are the fabric of our world. If you listen you can hear them in the line up at the grocery store or in the staff room or the rink. Listening to children's stories brings insight into what they know and what their interests are. Listening acknowledges them as capable people.
In this workshop, participants will become familiar with Vivian Paley's Story Telling Curriculum by listening to and telling their own everyday stories. They will learn: How can the story telling curriculum foster play, and oral language? How does the story telling curriculum support developmentally appropriate practice? What does it allow the Early childhood educator to do?
Participants will leave with confidence in their own ability to tell everyday stories and recognize them in children. They will encourage and enable children to be story tellers.
