As research in the field of early child development advances further and further each day, lifelong learning has become an important aspect of quality practice for many early childhood educators. The Early Childhood Development Association provides many hours of professional development every year, including Early Learning and Child Care Board-approved on-going training. The ECDA offers workshops, series, network meetings, special events, and three annual provincial professional development days.
Early childhood educators on PEI are required by the Early Learning and Child Care Board to successfully complete 45 hours of continuing education during every three year period following issuance of the certificate to maintain certification. This means our Island's educators are empowered to learn about up-to-date research and ideas that inspire their practice, resulting in higher quality early learning child care experiences for our Island's children. Click here to apply for Early Childhood Certification.
We invite you to browse the ECDA's upcoming professional development events to find offerings that will compliment and challenge your practice.
